At what point can you say “they should have known better?”

Before the Seattle riots, I was praying for the Lord to withhold the judgment appointed on Seattle. He said “on what principle are you asking?” I said “I know people there who seem like good people. They may just not know the truth because they don’t know where to find it. For example, I can think of two men that don’t necessarily believe in you, but I can guarantee that they’ve never had someone minister to them with the capability of explaining it according to their understanding.” He said, “ok, but how far can things deviate from normal before they are left without excuse?”  Since then, random people set up a lawless zone, riots raged, and the government has not enforced law and order. Now this: Between now and then I asked one associate how things were and he said “oh it’s not a big deal. The media is overhyping things.”  I’m sure people in Portland would say the same.

Manifesting God

To manifest is to reveal what was not previously seen or known or thought. God is manifested here through those who know him more. As you go through each day, think about what God has taught you about the situations you observe, and the difference between how things are and how things could be, and think about the smallest possible nudge you can give it (situation) or them (people) towards things as they could be. And as you give freely what you have received, you will be given more.

Misplaced outrage

I see a lot of people rightfully upset about revelations of pedophiles in high places and sex trafficking of children. First, it is my duty to inform you that things are much worse than they seem. As these things continue to come to light, please do not become so jaded that you stop caring. We ought to wear out our lives in bringing to light the hidden things of darkness. This surely includes praying earnestly to God to bring justice to all--the people who suffer and the people who make others suffer. Secondly, to my main point, please realize how interconnected everything is. Please consider how principles work. Principles are foundations of our actions. We pretend like they don't exist, as if each situation stood independently from everything else it is connected to. You can't pick up one end of a stick without picking up the other end. Consider what goes together, and all of the sudden you awake to our awful situation. You can't be surprised at the pedophiles when you su

Splitting wood and bearing crosses

A few weeks ago I was splitting wood with another man and two women. Being the strongest of them, I was splitting wood at a much faster rate. Each of the women, who had been helping supervise children in moving and stacking the split wood, seeing how exhausted us two men were, thought they would come help split the wood. They tried multiple times but could not make any impact on the tough logs, and they went back to stacking. I split until I was so exhausted that I could no longer stand up straight or raise the maul over my head. I had done more than half the pile. The other man finished the remainder of the pile, albeit at a much slower pace. The stacking took much longer still, in spite of having 7 people working on it. It amazes me to hear Christians say things like "I am so glad I don't have to go through what Jesus went through." He made it clear that we are to be like him. If we have less capability than he does, should we not expect to spend longer  at the effort t

Glorify God

We tend to think that new knowledge has to be earthshakingly detached from what we think we already know. God has shown me that he can shake the earth "just" by showing us the limits of the words we use everyday without understanding their true meaning. Do you know what it means to "glorify God"? It means to make more accurate our understanding and valuation of who, how, and what he is. Ponder on that. You say you believe in God? What difference is there, really, between you and the average atheist? Are you really different in any significant way? How? -Does your love of God empower you to unfailingly do all things according to your understanding of right and wrong? -Do you have untouchable trust in God that empowers you to endure anything that can happen here without stress or anxiety? -Does your knowledge of and faith in God cause you to act in all ways and at all times as you sincerely believe he would in your situation? If you answer no to any of these questions

No breaks

The things I am writing into books each day require an unspeakable effort to obtain and reduce to language that is understandable for those who have not heard these things before (which is everyone). They flood my heart and my mind every day and all day. I want nothing more than to share them, but I can't until it is done.  From time to time, I can emit some of the more minor thoughts, which is why I continue to blog.  The last few days the Lord has been teaching me about how, on so many topics, there are extremes and the truth lies on a razor's edge in the middle. One of the easiest ways we can lie to ourselves is to push things off that razor's edge. It's a really easily disguisable way to fool ourselves, or to lie to ourselves in a way we can successfully ignore. For example, you can turn something simple into something complicated, or something complicated into something simple.  One of these things is the diversity of spiritual intelligence in people here on earth.

Hidden gems

It has been my pleasure to have met a few noble people. Noble people are those endowed with the love of God.  These people: Would rather suffer than see others suffer. This manifests all over their lives. They would take a bullet for you without even thinking about it. Are deeply honest. You can entrust them with anything. They would rather die than betray you. Are self-aware. They know exactly why they do everything they do, and they don't do anything that isn't intentional. Are apt to sacrifice. They sacrifice the present for the future. They sacrifice things that are good for things that are better. Are open-minded and considerate. They think about things. They read things. They don't get offended by other perspectives. Tend not to be religious. They find organized religion unable to provide the depth and breadth of what their heart would require to be satisfied. Tend to be successful, but not rich. They work hard and pay attention to cause and effect, aiding in their ac

Do you love God? Really?

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law? 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. (Matthew 22) Do you love God? Are you sure? What evidence do you have? Do you do the works of Christ? [1] Do you do everything he would do if he were in your place, and nothing he wouldn't? You can't love God and disobey him. [2] Do you do "greater things" than he did during his earthly ministry, as he promised his disciples would do? [3] Can you explain why he did and does what he did and does? [4] Do you understand his character? [5] Do you have the discernment to judge things as they really are, and not just as they seem? [6] Or are you just like every other Christian, who treats God like a genie--distant when

If you are contemplating suicide--don't.  You are not alone. No matter what is getting at you, you need to realize that it isn't some unfortunate uncommon thing that has happened to you. No matter the cause, what you are experiencing is part of reality, and it is something that every person will eventually have to go through and overcome. There is no escape except by finding the tools that are sufficient to overcome it. It is very likely that many people have felt exactly what you are feeling, and most of them found ways of overcoming it. You need to find those tools and apply them. And you can . There is a sword sufficient to slay every dragon. You are a child of God. There are reasons for everything you are facing. It might take some explaining, but if you turn to God, I promise that it will eventually make sense. I also promise you that there is nothing that can happen in this world that has power to prevent you from having God's joy if you will seek and accept the thing

I came unto my own, and my own received me not

The Lord frequently said: "I came unto my own, and my own received me not..." (3 Nephi 9:16) This is part of the Lord's name. It is one of the characteristics by which he can be recognized, part of his character fingerprint. It is one of his crowns. This crown will be obtained by all who love him. Like all crowns, it appears as a crown of thorns to some and a crown of gold to others. The difference is possessing enough of the mind of God to perceive the value and the glory in the suffering by loving as God loves. Jesus said: "A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house." (Matthew 13:57) All beings of light are sent to their "house," or the people the Father has given them, or the people they are meant to serve, or their kingdom (these are all the same thing). He was rejected by those he was sent to preach to. Those who ought to most love and appreciate the price he paid were those who loved it the least. And this i

The whole problem in one picture

When Jesus miraculously fed thousands of people, he was sorely disappointed that the people's desire for free food far exceeded their interest in learning the character traits that were required to produce it. Every time I write a post about the end of the world it gets tons of views, but the posts about the changes you have to make to be prepared for it get very few views. The picture above shows the hits from the last 30 days on my blog. This is one of many things that makes what I do harder than it needs to be.

The parable of the asthmatic

Once there was a boy that looked like all the other boys. One day in PE, he was made to run laps with the other children. Being the first time he had run with other children, he noticed that he was much slower than they were. In fact, he was dead last. This happened every time they ran, and he was sorely made fun of by the children.  He wanted  to run as fast as they could, but it was very hard. He continued to push himself harder and harder. One day, he finished second to last. Another day, third to last. Eventually, this boy managed to get into the head of the last third of the column. And so it went. In high school, this boy decided to sign up for wrestling. Most of practice was running sprints where the coach would blow a whistle, and the last person in the line had to sprint to the front of the line. Once again, the young man saw that he was the slowest person on the team. After an hour of conditioning, the young men would then wrestle a round in rotation among the other teammates

You actually have to stop sinning to be saved.

Jesus has plainly said that repentance means ceasing to sin: 42 Behold, he who has repented of his sins, the same is forgiven, and I, the Lord, remember them no more. 43 By this ye may know if a man repenteth of his sins—behold, he will confess them and forsake them. (D&C 58) He has plainly said that only those who obey his commandments are forgiven of their sins: Who am I that made man, saith the Lord, that will hold him guiltless that obeys not my commandments? (D&C 58:30) We have been told plainly what it will be like in the resurrection for those who do not keep all of his commandments: 3 …Do ye suppose that ye shall dwell with him under a consciousness of your guilt? Do ye suppose that ye could be happy to dwell with that holy Being, when your souls are racked with a consciousness of guilt that ye have ever abused his laws? 4 Behold, I say unto you that ye would be more miserable to dwell with a holy and just God, under a consciousness of your filthiness before him, than y

God has given you the power to overcome

Jesus Christ has overcome all things, and through his example and the information he makes available to you, you can do the same.  1. God only gives you commandments you have the power to obey. "...the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them." (1 Nephi 3) 2. Your failure to keep God's commandments is a choice you make.  Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh; and all things are given them which are expedient unto man. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself. (2 Nephi 2:27) You are 100% responsible. There are no excuses except your choice. 3. You have everything you need to know what is right under your circumstances. For behold, my brethren, it is given un

Civil war

I have talked about how, in our day, we will see person against person, town against town, ideology against ideology, and so on. For years after I first said these things (in 2015, maybe even before that), people publicly and privately mocked me. I'm not the only one in modern or former times who has warned of these things. 4 And it shall come to pass, after many days, slaves shall rise up against their masters, who shall be marshaled and disciplined for war. 5 And it shall come to pass also that the remnants who are left of the land will marshal themselves, and shall become exceedingly angry, and shall vex the Gentiles with a sore vexation. 6 And thus, with the sword and by bloodshed the inhabitants of the earth shall mourn; and with famine, and plague, and earthquake, and the thunder of heaven, and the fierce and vivid lightning also, shall the inhabitants of the earth be made to feel the wrath, and indignation, and chastening hand of an Almighty God, until the consumption
